Personal Branding Session With Lina

Today I’m sharing a personal branding photography session with haircutting specialist, Lina Waled. I’ve worked with Lina once before on a creative photoshoot where she did the makeup, and it’s one of my favourite shoots to date, so when she asked me to do branding photos for her new website and Instagram, I was excited to see what we’ll come up with.

Lina had a very clear vision, and knew what she wanted. We had a couple of pre-production phone calls and she shared her Pinterest moodboard complete with inspiration and reference photos of what she was looking for. I love when clients do this, because it gives me a really good idea of what aesthetic they’re after and I can fully prepare myself to meet their needs.

We were going to shoot in a hair salon and have a model who’s hair Lina would treat, cut, and style, while I document the process.

Personal branding sessions are all about telling a story. The story we wanted to tell with Lina was about the process of treating, cutting, and styling her client’s hair, while letting her personality shine so her audience could tell what it’s like getting their hair done by Lina. So, it starts with a one-on-one consultation, followed by a dry cut, shampoo and treatment, wet cut, and finishing it off with a blow out and styling.

The shoot went smoothly, as expected, and we had a ton of fun getting creative with the angles, poses, and props. I really enjoyed capturing Lina doing what she does best - she’s a true pro at her craft. What we ended up with were a combination of candid lifestyle shots, portrait shots that highlight her bubbly personality, and some close-ups and product shots of her tools.

Let me know what you think of the photos we got, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you’re ready to book your very own personal branding session for you or your business!
